Hannah couldn’t endure any more because she did not have children, so she prayed, asking God and weeping a lot. She promised God, saying: “If you give me a son I will give him back to you.” God gave Hannah a son and she called him Samuel. This name means “Asked of God.” Hannah gave Samuel to the Lord and the prophet Samuel served in the temple of God all the days of his life.
